OnePlus ends software support for OnePlus 6 and 6T

Customers planning to continue using their OnePlus 6/6T might need to look for other solutions related to ROM (Read-Only Memory) as there won’t be any fresh updates from the tech company’s side.

OnePlus is officially dropping software support for its smartphones, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, launched in 2018.

The last upgrade to OxygenOS 11.1.2.2 will be the final software update for both smartphones including the security patches that were pushed out in November 2021.

This also means that the smartphones, which are fairly old now, will not be receiving Android 12 updates as the company has already pushed out three years of software updates for them.

This doesn’t come as a surprise since every smartphone launched by OnePlus gets three major OS updates and three years of security updates after its release.

The tech company started limiting the software support for three years for its phones since the release of OnePlus 3/3T handsets.

On the other hand, the tech giant has already launched two new smartphones this month, the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OnePlus 9RT. While the OnePlus 9RT will be available in India, there are still no

announcements on when the company will release OnePlus 10 Pro in India.

According to reports, 10 Pro sold out in China in its first flash sale itself.
